Walt disney
This is wanting people to buy savings bonds for the war.
Walt had a very early interest in drawing, and art. When he was seven years old, he sold small sketches, and drawings to nearby neighbors. Instead of doing his school work Walt doodled pictures of animals, and nature. During the fall of 1918, Disney attempted to enlist for military service, but he was rejected because he was under age. He was only sixteen years old at the time. Walt joined the Red Cross and was sent overseas to Franc. He spent a year there driving an ambulance and chauffeuring Red Cross officials. His ambulance was covered from stem to stern, not with stock camouflage, but with Disney cartoons. When WWII happened, Disney created posters and later in the war he started to make some short video clips using Disney characters. The clips were to portray Japanese and Nazis as having no morals. He made propaganda for all branches of the military. He was able to provide positive morale to the soldiers. Disney's main impact on America was around 1943-1944. This was when he had started making a bigger name for himself.
Were the intentions of Disney intended?
Yes, they were intended; they were intended to boost the morale of the American people and help them want to support the war even more. He impacted America during 1943-1944. He wasn't the first person to produce propaganda posters. He did use Disney characters that also was able to help catch people's attention better and help bring the reader in and make them want to help do their part and support the war. He was one of the first people that created propaganda in a motion picture. Even though people didn't have televisions in their home they would go and watch movies in the theaters and these clips were played during the commercial time before the movie. These videos were able to go more into detail than just a simple poster. The video below is just one of the many examples of the propaganda video clips from Walt Disney.
